Trash to Treasure Project..Half Finished...and Late to the Party!

Yes, I realize that this lovely shade of peach is sooooooo 1987. In fact, I remember this very color being my absolute favorite back in the day. I wanted my future bridesmaids dresses this color...my first house this color (with green shutters no less). Let's just say peach was the IT color. Nowadays, I'm a little less inclined to peach and more into neutrals. I saw this cake stand at a local salvage store recently and fell in love with it. Those beautiful fluted edges had me at hello. The color didn't bother me one bit, cause I knew I could spray paint it any color I fancied. Oh, the wild joys of spray paint!!!

You can still see some of the peach peeking through the white. It has rained almost every day this last week, and I've not been able to get the last coat on there. Even unfinished, I think it is lovely. I'm envisioning a cute little nest with a glass cloche on top. The ideas are endless for this beauty. I always love to hear your input and ideas...sooooooo...what would you do with this frilly dilly cake stand?

Too funny about the peach color. I got married in 1990 with peach bridesmade dresses. That's right, and our apartment was stylin' with mint green, peach, and white! :-)

I've always wanted a cake plate like that! The white looks beautiful.

Love the cake stand, and I would leave it sitting out whether I was using it or not. I have to say I had the same color combo. My bedroom was peach and seafoam green for years. Oh the memories that you just brought back!

You're right, it's beautiful already! I LOVE the fluted edge. I love your idea for the cloche, anything you put on there will be elevated to treasure status, literally!

OMG! You brought back so many decorating memories for me! My bedroom was peach and country blue! I thought it was so beautiful back then! I had these really frilly lacey peach and white balloon curtains that were to die for! I wish that I still had them, they would go perfect with my shabby chic decor!

I love your cake plate. Is is ceramic? I didn't even know hat you could paint it! WOW! I like your idea of the cloche on top. I have been wanting one of those. Can you buy them at Hobby Lobby?

Hugs,
Lee Laurie

Found you by way of Susie, and your little stand is great. Love the fluted edges, and it will be so pretty w/ the cloche and bird nest. The frosty look is very pretty too. Jackie

super duper cute!! i must say i'm a bit disheartened that you're cheating on peach (only matched in love by mauve) but i suppose we do need to move on...just don't make me give up NKOTB!

I remember when peach was the IT color! Haha!

MUCH better as its current shade. I like the cloche idea!

Oh and don't worry, I'm always late to the Reinvented party too. ;)

This has to be one of the prettiest shaped cake stands I have seen. Those edges make it so unique!

And the color-- the house I grew up in was the exact same! Haha! The house was actually white when we moved in, and my Mom chose to paint it peach! :)

Sending some sun your way so you can get your paint on!

Looks great and I love the ruffled edges! Oh, peach. We bought our home 7 years ago and it hadn't been updated since 1985. Every wall was peach except the ones with blue and pink wallpaper - ducks in the bathroom, flowers in the kitchen - oh my! Much better white!

Looks great! I love the fluted edges too! And I totally think a little nest with a cloche would be perfect on top!

This is great! I too remember Peach and mint green being some of my favorite colors...does that say how old I am? lol. I recently went to a swap party and ended up getting a very big and great cake stand...only drawaback...bright orange! I knew when I first laid eyes on it I was going to spray paint it! I love the way yours is turning out and those fluted eges! Oh, stop by my blog and see all the new changes I have going on there. I also am doing a very great giveaway! A custom designed Birdie Bag and cupcake pincushion! I think you will love them!

Hugs,
~Victoria~
