Let's Take a Peek...

I am sooooo not even close to being done with this room, but I am LOVING it already! The white paint I so hastily chose, even though I knew better, turned out to be more of a blue-ish white. I was freaking out at first, but now I really like it. I think the stark white would have been too.....well, stark. I want to add in some soft blue accessories, maybe a blanket to throw at then end of the bed and some accent pillows. And please, please, please don't judge me on that hideous bedskirt that doesn't match! My new black one has been ordered and is on it's way...thank goodness. And hello.....I thought the zebra rug was fabulous in my living room??? I love it so much more in here! And I never would have even tried it if it hadn't been for my anal retentive self that was having a panic attack over some kid at the Halloween party accidentally spilling on it. Right before the guests arrived, I rolled it up and moved it in here and put my very forgiving shag rug back in the living room. It was love at first sight...it's not going anywhere!

The bamboo shade really doesn't go, but I'm pretending it does for now. It camoflauges a really fugly 1970's window and also acts as a headboard...until I can make an upholstered one. Sometimes you just gotta work with what ya got! I hung the black feather wreath in the center to bring in a bit more black and try to take away from the brown shade. It'll do for now.

This $2 yard sale chandelier candle thingy hangs right above my desk. I have had this beauty in a closet just waiting for the perfect spot...and this is it. Pictures of the desk will have to be seen at a later date...work in progress.

This is the wall that I'm planning on hanging some beautiful black and white plates on, as well as my kid's silhouettes. Once again...work in progress.

The bathroom area still needs a light and mirror hung, and a vanity skirt. The back wall is primed and painted, but the rest is only cut in. It's a slow process, but it is getting done. You know...I have this other full time gig called wife and mother that takes up 99% of my day. So all of this extra stuff comes last...like midnight when everyone's in bed! A few more late nights and I think we'll be in the home stretch.

And just because I cannot get enough of this rug in the room...another litte pic!

Stay tuned for more progress...I'll keep you posted.

It's coming along really nicely, Amanda! I'm also incorporating black and white into my living room, which needs a little freshening up. Thanks for the sneak peek!

Love the "sneak peak"! It's looking good so far. So fun that you ended up with the zebra rug in there by chance. Don't you love those happy fluky things that you end up doing sometimes?

Lookin' good, sista.... Got my new "drapes" up today and LURVE them....played around with the valance a bit but need to work on it some more. I think I'm gonna have to break down and do a little sewing...I just didn't want to cut my fabric, but I have SO much of it.....Thinking I may do the damask for the valance and the stripe at the bottom.... I love those damask drapes...They look great!!! I guess I just need to pop over there and help you make that headboard.... FUN!

Your master bedroom is coming along nicely! I really like your color choices. And that zebra print rug was made for your bedroom. It looks fabulous in there!!

I think it is looking fabulous! My guest bedroom has a lot of black and white and I have been thinking about dong my bedroom like that too. It is such a classic look and also pretty easy to coordinate. Those curtains and that rug are just perfect!

LOVE the room! I picked up the valance from Target to match your curtains on a super clearance. I may use them as a runner or make into pillows. I LOVE damask right now especially a big print like that. I have a similar drape in brown in the living room and everyone comments on them. I also love your vanity mirror!

Best wishes,
Tammy

LOVE the room!!!! I have an idea for the bamboo blinds, whether it will work or not I don't know. What about spraying just the one side with black or white paint? Maybe go a little wild and do a zebra print on the blinds? Or do them in the shade of blue that you are going to use?

My husband would kill me if I did this to our room. But I do LOVE it!!!

It is looking great! Your idea for the black and white plates gave me an idea for LuLu's room! I'm going to use them for 'numbers' to go around the very large black clock hands I got at TJ Maxx for $4 for her room! Can't wait to see the rest!

Girlfriend, this is looking so good. You should be proud! I think your genius subconscious mind was telling you to put the zebra rug in the bedroom. Yes, that was it. It wasn't anal retentiveness. It was genius. :)

I LOVE that rug! I'm thinking of where I could put one like that.
Hmmm...If yours ends up missing it might be at my house. He!

Fabulous! Black and white is so versatile; you can choose any accent color you like! On that note, have you considered painting your blinds a slightly deeper blue than your walls? It would make the wreath pop!

I love how your bedroom is coming along!! I've had an ivory coverlet very similar to yours for the past several years, and love it. I can change out the pillows and shams, along with the throw at the end of the bed, and instantly create a whole new look. It works nicely with our tight budget:)

Girl, you go on with your bad self!

I love it all. I went through a zebra frenzy back in the day and I still have a zebra print couch in my basement. It doesn't go with anything I have now but man, it was love at first sight when I got it forever ago! :)

I have the same tray/turned art that you have! :) I put a starfish in mine and painted it H.W. Love yours in the room though.

We may be long lost best friends..hmm

Gorgeous! Whadya think about painting the bamboo shade black til you get around to making a fabric-covered headboard? Just a thought.

Where did you get those curtains!? I LOOOOOOVE them! I'm "redoing" our bedroom, living room, and kitchen, and our bedroom is going to be a bluish gray, with black and white linens and accessories! I LOVE these! Sigh... (ps were they affordable?)
