Get your spook on!

Do you have as much fun as I do decorating for halloween? Last year was the first time I've really gotten into the whole halloween thing. We hosted our first annual halloween party and had an absolute blast. I've made it our new tradition, and cannot wait till the 31st! The kids and I have had so much fun with it this year. We went with a little more of a spooky theme, and I hope none of the little kids get too scared. This post shows several of my Dollar Tree scores. The glass jars on my mantel are filled with those cute white pumpkins, gourds, skulls, and skeleton hands...all from DT. And let's not forget those sweet little black crows. Speaking of which, before I found them at DT, I was considering ordering them from Lillian Vernon and paying $20 for 3. WHAT?...I know, insanity. Thank goodness for the dollar store! I know by now everyone and their brother has done the cute little frame with "BOO" printed in it, and I just had to join the party and do one too. Joy over at joysofhome.blogspot.com gave us all the fantabulous idea of what to do with an ugly dollar store frame. Isn't it too cute? By the way, I love her and want to be her when I grow up! She's one of the many talented ladies out there in blogland that's inspired me. I've always been thrifty and loved a good bargain, but lately it has become a passion of mine. It's so rewarding to take an inexpensive item and turn it into something spectacular. One woman's trash really can be another woman's treasure. It's just so much fun. The cake stand, old books, and glass jars were things I already had that I wasn't using. The little curved wooden box was a yard sale find from last Saturday...$1. I love to "shop" my house for unused things and repurpose them. It's becoming a slight obsession...it's addicting. Hey, it's a safe, cheap, fun hobby. And I can use that saved money to take the kiddos to McDonald's every now and then. Everyone wins!
