Decorating With Plastic Plates

Do ya'll remember these cutsie melamine plates I got at Target for 75% off? Well, I told you I had grand plans for them, and it only took me 34 days to hang them. I originally wanted to hang them in these two groupings, but I changed my mind. I know...that is SO unlike me.

Aren't they the most precious plastic plates you ever did see?

I decided to put the aqua polka dots on the shelf above my computer desk. This room is a deep chocolate brown and desperately needs all the color it can get. And this just happens to be my accent color. What a coincidence!

The other 5 plates I decided to hang on that weird soffit thing in my girls' room. Please excuse the poor quality of this picture. My camera is on it's last leg. I like them here for now, but I'm sure I'll get sick of this arrangement and move them to a new home sooner or later. That's just how I roll. I am in constant tweaker mode. I rearrange stuff ALL.THE.TIME. It's kinda like getting new stuff without the expense. Except, really...getting new stuff is way more fun! But this girl's on a budget and this method will have to do.

  5. I've always loved the colors and prints in these plates. Never bought any because, well, you know... they're PLASTIC! I really like how you've used them to brighten up your spaces. I might have to reconsider plastic now!

  16. Who would ever know they are plastic?? Love them! Oh, and p.s. on the door~when I painted mine, I used a small foam roller so there would be no streaks, took the hardware off, taped off the glass, and just did the front, not the edges, if that makes sense. Then I didn't have to take it off the hinges. Good luck!!

  27. I love it all! I am espescially loving the plastic!!! Can't ever go wrong with plastic.
I am also loving what you did on your door!
I would take if off it's hinges. I have painted a door on and off and it really is much easier off. It will make such a difference for so little money. You might be like me and think-why in the heck didn't I do this sooner?
Make sure you show us the finished product. PS-your clipboards are darling. I have about 5 all over and around-I love them.
One can never have enough, espescially when they are cutsified!!!
