My Wrapping Paper Addiction

Do you need a few more decorations for Christmas, but don't want to spend any more money? Yeah, me too. I basically need more Christmas decor like I need a hole in the head...but whatever! I have a great solution for you and it's free. What's better than free, right? My good friend Kimm @ Reinvented posted something similar this week with wrapping paper. She used a beautiful red and white damask pattern...very elegant. We obviously have a lot in common...we post similar ideas and we both want to bathe in Hobby Lobby wrapping paper. And cover every thing that doesn't move in it as well! Remember those neutral candles I transformed by simply covering them in wrapping paper? One of my most favorite tricks for decorating on the cheap...and stinkin cute too!

I had this big space on top of my giant armoire that was completely empty and needed to be filled. I took an old ugly hat box destined for the garage sale pile and some empty shipping boxes and just wrapped them up with my most favorite wrapping paper of all time. I wish I would have gotten several rolls of this stuff at Hobby Lobby when I had the chance. Our store has been sold out of almost all things Christmasy for a couple weeks now.

I love the way this little vignette turned out. What I love even more is that it was FREE! I cannot believe I actually considered buying some cute boxes (almost identical to mine) at Hobby Lobby just for display. I'm glad I listened to that cheap voice in my head that told me NO.

I couldn't sleep last night (nothing new), so I decided to go out in the freezing cold at 11:30 and decorate my front door. I know my neighbors must think I'm a freak of nature. Especially when I start snapping pics of my house in the wee hours of the morning!

I really love the way it turned out, but I'm starting to think it looks like Christmas threw up all over my house! Am I going overboard? Am I taking the whimsy too far? Should I scale it back a bit? The rest of the year, I am pretty conservative in my decorating, but the holidays are the perfect time to let loose and fun with it. And believe you me...I am having fun with it. But I might need to start having a little less fun!

I love it! I love decorating for Christmas and with other holidays I keep it to a minimum but with Christmas almost anything goes. (:

Great ideas! In fact I need to go to Hobby Lobby (as soon as I can get on the roads!) to get Christmas candles. I have three white ones sitting in a stand and lots of really pretty paper downstairs. That is on my agenda for tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!!!

Merry Christmas!

No. I don't think you can go "overboard" for Christmas ~ no such thing! I love your front door! Those decorations that look like candy are great. I wrap shipping boxes too. They are only destined to go out with the recycling anyway, so I wrap them and then put them out after Christmas for recycling. The ones I have by my little foyer tree in my most recent post are all "faux" presents. Just boxes from whatever I received in the mail or from UPS in the last few weeks. If you get those vinyl party tablecloths in Christmas colors or designs you can wrap the really big boxes and use them outside! I've done that, too.

Love the wrapping paper. Too bad I don't have a HL...or maybe good, cuz I've got enough wrapping paper to last until 2012, at least! Keep the ideas comin'!

Overboard on Christmas decorations? Are you kidding?

You are my sister. No two ways about it. But you're the smart sister. I have that houndstooth paper, but have I wrapped any boring candles with it? No, I have not.

I did wrap empty boxes for a display on my front porch last year, though. It was so cute! And whimsical! Hooray for whimsical! No such thing as too much!!

Love, love, love the door! Don't you dare scale back. I'll bet your kiddos love it all and isn't that at least part of what you do it for? It's the only time of year where you can go hog wild and not bat an eye. Enjoy the whimsey!

If Christmas threw up at your place then I want to catch those germs!! ;) I LOVE everything you've done, but of course I would seeing as how we're like long-lost twins or something. Did you make the ornament/plaque on your front door? It's darling!!! Love ya! :)

I love all you did. I have to say I laughed when you said that Christmas threw up, because I said the exact same thing about my house the other day. I keep adding little things and it's getting out of hand! I think your house looks great - not too much at all.

Where did you get that awesome netting type material you used around your front door? Love it!

You CAN'T have too much fun, my friend! Your door looks fabulous, and the top of that armoire is to. die. for. You had me at the polka dots! I wish I would've found that paper too, damask and polka dots together would be pure heaven!! Thanks for the linky love, girl, love ya back.
