Just Can't Wait Till October

I tried...really I did. Last week I got my fall stuff out and decorated my mantel. It was beautiful and it drove me crazy. You see, I equate fall with halloween and I absolutely love decorating for halloween. I tried to be patient and just do the fall thing, but I couldn't do it...I'm weak. Those whimsical pumpkin topiaries were calling my name from the attic. Who says you can't put up your halloween decor in September?

If you missed this post from last year, click here to read how we made them. Note my lovely assistant's arms!

This is my front entry from last year when my door was red. Hated that color, but it did make my black feather wreath pop. Unfortunately, now you can't see it at all.

I put the fluer de lis canvas behind the wreath thinking it would make it stand out more, but that didn't work. Maybe a white feather wreath is in my future.

I love this wreath! Up close, you can see it just fine. The black feathers are irridescent and depending on the light, they have hints of purple and green. I really want it to stand out more, so I guess I'll use it somewhere else. I think a trip to Hobby Lobby and a little wreath crafting is in order now.....fingers crossed that feather boas are on sale this week!

Oh honey I'm back yes you can put Halloween out in September. I tried the fall stuff last year and hated it so much I almost crawled out of my skin. I love walking through leaves but not decorating with them. I am so not country and it just doesn't work for me! Now I am so putting my witch on the door, thank you!

Just couldn't wait, huh? Oh, well. We'll forgive you. :)

I really do like your front door black. Mind you, I LOVE a red front door. But the black door just looks like what your door ought to look like, you know?

My front door is wood. And, much to my chagrin, it will remain stained. I am a PAINTED door kind of person, but I'm not going to win the door battle. It will remain stained wood, and I will remain married. I made a nice swag for it for fall. I haven't quite felt like getting my pumpkins out yet--maybe next week.

Love ya!

I am so glad to see that I am not the only crazy lady! I just drug out all of the Halloween decorations last night. We had soooo much fun decorating! I just scored a polkadot Halloween table cloth from Target today!

I love to decorate for halloween. In fact, I did it last weekend. Your topiaries are beautiful. I think they look amazing against the black door and your wreath looks great too!

I did just the fall thing around my house for now. October 1st, Halloween decor will be out. :) That's exactly why I didn't paint my door black, I was afraid none of my wreaths would show up. You know what would be cute on your black door? One of those mini pumpkin wreaths.

I was just shopping for some stuff to make a few Halloween decorations today! I can't wait to put some stuff up! :)

I love, love, love your front door area!!! Those pumpkins are adorable! I think if you maybe just some how incorporated some white feathers in with the black it would show a lot more. That way you wouldn't have to make a whole new one??

I know exactly what you mean...I equate Halloween with fall also. I can't hardly stand having to wait until October 1st to get my Halloween decorations out. The topiaries look great!

You should try orange feathers. It would look incredible agains your black door!!

I should have taken a close up of that witch hat! Actually I use to live in Illinois and an artist friend named Lisa Frost she made it. She had never done one before and I requested a witch hat since witches are my favorite. I picked the colors, boa and all. She doesn't do custom orders anymore she has teamed up with Silvestri and now has a line so mass produced. Not as cute I tell you as her real stuff. You can find them in many shops around. I even have a stocking painted with leopard spots for Christmas. Just look her up on line! I can help if you need more details.

Love the porch and the pumpkin topiaries. very fun. And guuuurl, you're not the only one anxious for Halloween, I love decorating for it too! How can you help it?!! haha!! ...and if I may make a suggestion? Maybe do the feather wreath in either orange(so it pops) or if you can't find that maybe purple? IDK...just thown' some ideas out. =)

I saw these last year and was new to blogging then. I have kept them in the back of my mind ever since then, I loved them! I found smaller pumpkins at the dollar store and I am planning on spraying them and making smaller ones. I'll show them to you when I get it done. I am ready to decorate too, but it's so hot here, I need to wait! :(

LOOOOVE the pumpkin topiaries! And I I can't say enough about the black door, L O V E IT!

What about adding some white feathers behind it? Or how about a square frame with some burlap background? I'm sure something like that will make that lovely feather wreath pop!

You inspired me!!! Not as pretty as yours, but pretty good for a non-crafter! ;)

Creating a house theme is a brilliant idea especially when you’re up for celebrating seasonal event like Halloween. Black seems nicer than red for your door. It’s more striking, and with those whimsical pumpkins beside it, you could feel more dramatic appeal in it.
