Zipper Flower Embellishments

This is what you get when you ask your 11 year old son to take pictures for you! My zipper flowers turned into a smiley face. Actually, he did a fantastic job. And here's the funny part......when I asked him to take pics of my feet and hands, he didn't even bat an eye. He complied like it was the most normal thing in the world for his mom to ask him such a question! Now I know that I've successfully turned my whole family into blogging crazies.

Anyway.....back to the whole point of this post (sorry, I'm easily distracted)! I am totally enamored with zippers lately. They seem to be everywhere......on shoes, clothing, even jewelry. With that in mind, I decided to make my own zipper embellishments. I started with this bracelet. First I wrapped a dollar store bangle with ribbon. Then take your metal zipper and unzip it. Cut it right above the zipper pull, and that will split it into two zippers. Now just wrap it in a circle dabbing on hot glue as you go to hold it all in place. Cut a piece of felt to fit the back and glue that on. Then you can easily glue it to your bracelet.

I used a 24 inch zipper to make bigger flowers for my favorite pair of shoes. But instead of gluing them on, I used sticky velcro strips. That way I can take them on and off or even put them on different shoes when I want a change.

Are these too edgy to wear to church??? I am in LOVE with them.

I must admit, I am obsessing over these zipper flowers. Hmmmmm......what else can I put them on?

Those shoes are way too cute. The bracelet, the shoes, a little black dress, and a brightly colored cardigan--maybe aqua, fucshia, or canary yellow...that would be soooo fab!!! Love it!!!

Btw, I will be making it your starburst mirror pretty soon. It's going to be quite a project...hubby and I have never had our own romantic and relaxing space...I have slowly collected all the accessories and furniture..I <3 Craigslist!!! Today, I finally got the bedding...yippee!!! You are super creative...any tips???

Have a great weekend!!!

LOVE the shoes!! You could also add them to a purse, maybe an "A" from the Lobby of Hobbies for yourself, or a letter for your last name to decorate with? Fun stuff, have a great weekend!!

Whoa, that is a beautiful zipper flower that even I could make!!! Love your so-easy explanation, thank you! (I have been zipper-flower challenged, but maybe not anymore.) The shoes - gorgeous. Basically, they win everything. (p.s. thanks for popping over to check my project earlier! I now have to go read all your other posts.)
