Touches of Fall

Because we are now officially in September, I feel I can freely talk about and decorate for fall. The weather is not cooperating as much as I'd like it to, but that's ok...I can live with it ...for now. So, it's 90 degrees out and people are still swimming in their pools everyday...I'm ok with that too. We will still be wearing shorts and flip flops in November...that's my reality and I've accepted it. But......that does NOT mean that I have to deprive myself of holiday decorating just because the weather is still warm...right?
Exactly what I was thinking!

I dug my fall wreath out of the garage and went to town. It needed a little fluff and puff (my mom made that up to mean anything that needs sprucing up). So I literally fluffed and puffed what was already in there and added some new goodies I've collected through the year. I think I might need one more white pumpkin in there to balance it all out. What do y'all think? I have 2 grocery bags full of them, so it's definitely not gonna be a problem! And I just came in from spray painting two more white. I'm seriously addicted, I tell ya. I may need a white pumpkin intervention soon.

Gorgeous fall colored berries, feather balls (hehehe)...

More berries, more feathers (you really cannot have too many), and these cute, but strange acorns. I loved these acorns when I found them last year. The first thing my husband says is... "Are you sure you want those on our front door?" And the next day my sister comes over and says..."Those acorns on your wreath look like boobies." Ummm.....thanks? So, I'm just gonna put it put there and ask what y'all think about the acorns. Should they stay or go? Are they obscene and offensive or beautiful autumn accents?

Please share....and be nice!

  2. Oh my gosh! I am so laughing! Not at the wreath, I promise. But at the boobie comment.

Your wreath is beautiful. I really wouldn't have noticed the acorns. But now that you mention it...boobies are what I see now. Sorry.

But it's still festive and lovely. (I know...I'm not helpful)

  3. I didn't see boobies at first, now I do though. haha

I think the wreath looks great but I definitely think you could add some more white pumpkins! :)

  4. Okay I am seriously laughing so hard right now Amanda. Your sister is a riot!

Love your gorgeous wreath! It's very unique and creative.
The white pumpkins look pretty! You could throw another one on there for balance and it would look very nice.
I actually found the most beautiful sage green Fall pumpkin yesterday at Kirklands and passed it up. I have to go back for it since it's a perfect match to our family room. I'm not sure what I was thinking. Sigh...:)

It's still HOT here too. I want to start decotaing right now as well.

    Have a great Holiday weekend, ~Melissa :)

  5. LOL!! The wreath is beautiful. Why don't you just add a pole to your porch and it will balance out the boobie acorns?

Might work in your favor too :) It will keep the solicitors off your porch! LOL!

  6. Too funny!! You had me laughing out loud... thank you! That wasn't my first thought when I saw the wreath, but after you mention it... they do a little bit... Maybe you could adjust them so they aren't pointing straight out, and put some bigger things next to them to fill out the area. Like the one with the pumpkin beside it. ;)

  7. I can see the google searches in this post's future......fluff and puff, feather balls, and acorn boobies!

Okay, wait, I have to catch my breath from laughing.

There, all better. I just can't get the in the fall grove yet. It finally feels like summer the past week and I am not ready to see it go. Still, if you keep posting your fall things, I just might get in the spirit!

  9. Lovely; I love the white pumpkins. As for the acorns, just tell your sister that sometimes an acorn is just an acorn. I didn't think anything of them until I read that she said that and then I had to go back up and look at the full view - I think you're okay! : )

P.S. Got your message - thanks very much! I look forward to getting them and I'll let you know when they arrive.

  10. I didn't think anything of the acorns till you said that...now all I can see are boobies...

    :-)

  11. Oh, gosh. How funny.

Yes, one more white pumpkin will be good. As for the acorns, glue them down so that they stand up and the tops don't stick straight out quite so. . . suggestively. I mean, what would the mama oak trees think?

    XOXO,
    Richella

  12. awww....I so wish we could wear flip flops and shorts well into Nov. I am so jealous. We are still getting some nice days here but nowhere near 90 degrees. Heck we didn't even get much of a summer. I am so not a winter person anymore.

  13. The wreath is beautiful...I would never have thought that about the acorn...but your sister's comment is just too funny...keep the acorns.

  14. We never got a summer so I am ready for fall. There are already Christmas isles at most stores!

  15. I say keep them, but that's because they look like cupcakes to me! You know, the ones with the candied cherry halves on top? I can see the "boobies", but my first impression and every split-second glance thereafter has been of cupcakes. And cupcakes know no season. :D

  16. Hahahaa...boobies. I feel like a kindergartner. Your sister sounds like mine--always the first to point out my screw-ups. ;)

I think it's a gorgeous wreath! You did a great job. I need to head to The Dollar Tree to see what they have going on.

  17. The one on the right is the first thing I saw when your page loaded, and I wondered what in the world that thing WAS!!! LOL
It looks kinda like a giant ice cream cone with a cherry on top. (I have food on the brain once again...)
Maybe if you re-wired it & re-ituated it onto its side? Just a little nice suggestion... I play by your rules...
Oh, and I am loving all those feathers!
    :-) Sue

  18. Too funny!!! Can you take the acorns off and use them in a bowl or something inside your house? You could put a fall colored bow in place of one of them. ???

I am sooo ready for fall decorating but I think I am going to wait until next weekend because I will have a little free time all to myself - no distractions! I am going all out on white pumpkins too. You are not alone, sister!

  19. I just finished fluffing and puffying my fall wreath too. I think yours looks beautiful. Keep the boobie acorns on there they look great!

  20. I think it's just beautiful the way it is, wouldn't change a thing!! The acorns definitely look like acorns..don't worry about it!!

  21. I can see the boobies/acorn thing. After thinking about it, IF it's gonna have YOU thinking boobies every time you look at it then I would add a few more white pumpkins instead of the acorns. Only 'cause I luuuuuuv the white pumpkins more. Besides, what would be more fun than changing it up a few times throughout fall? 'Cause I'm a fall freak too!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha. They do have a rather large ummm stem. But I would leave them on there. They are cute and very fallish. I never would have thought it if you hadn't said anything. :) I'm so excited about getting ready to decorate fall.

  23. Haha! They do kindo of look like boobies but the wreath as a whole is cute. I say leave it as is.

  24. Cracking up - no your wreath does not need a bra!
Looks gorgeous - love the acorns, and love those feather balls. Have someof those from Hob Lob too!

  25. I came back again this morning (I always come back, pretty much every morning), and here are those funny acorns again. Well, laughter is supposed to be the best medicine.

Stop by and check out my pumpkin bread recipe. It's not WHITE, but it is good. And easy.

    Love ya!

  26. AMANDA! Good morning! What a lovely wreath on the door. I have just spent the last 1/2 hour looking through your wonderful blog. What wonderful ideas and posts you have. I enjoyed all of it! Hope your day is blessed, I know it will be!

  27. I love your wreath and I didn't see 'boobies' until you said something about it. I would probably lay them on their sides and maybe add another one so that there would be 3 instead of 2. My little boy would crack up if he heard us blogging about this! The other day I had 2 naked maniquins delivered to my house and my friend that brought them here put one on each side of my front door! When I saw them, I was so embarressed! I wonder what the mailman thought!? My little boy laughs about it everytime he thinks about it. I should've done a post about it...but I was in such a hurry to get them into storage! I forgot! Oh yeah and he had even put cowboy hats on them! I bet the mailman thought..."What a bunch of rednecks!"

    Hugs,
    Lee Laurie

  28. I didn't think they were until you said that, so I vote they stay. I'm up for all things fall. Acorns and all :)

  29. Ha!! I have the "booby" lights -- you know what I'm talking about? :) I love your wreath, I don't think it needs anymore of anything!

  31. Well, I did not see that until I read what she said about it. I think you should just leave 'em. My dad said my salt & pepper shakers on my table look obscene. I never saw them in the way he ment till then. But I can tell you, I think of him EVERYTIME I look at those darn things LOL
    Have a great weekend, MISSY

  37. I've been on a white pumpkin hunt too! Must be something in the air. Boobies? Well, maybe. But you know some people see stuff like that in most everything.

  38. Oh friend, I'm having the hardest time justifying my fall decor due to the temp. outside. Living in SC, my climate sounds a lot like yours. Maybe just maybe, this gorgeous wreath will motivate me. I LOVE the acorns, but after the boob comment that is all I see. BOOBS! I still love them though. I'll be interested to see what you decide. Did your boys ask you about it yet?

  39. Very cute! Love all of your choices and ya just gotta love those feather balls!! I didn't grab any white pumpkins last year and now I can't find any. I love the white. Have a great week.

  40. I thought the acorn was adorable, but now all I see is a boobie! Or a cupcake with a chocolate cherry on top!

Love the wreath...you are so talented! I too love decorating for fall!

I honestly never thought "boob" when I saw the acorns, I was just jealous that I haven't found suh cool stuff! Love the pumpkins too, by the way.

  44. You are soooo funny! I love fall wreaths and the big acorns are neat.

  45. Love it, love it, love it. Why are boobies everywhere? Turn the acorns on their side if you can, but don't get rid of them!

My entry light, if you stand under it and look up, looks like a boob too. It's frightening!
