A Sneak Peek

Why is it that I cannot seem to actually finish any of my projects lately? I feel like everything I do is half done or not done at all. Can anyone relate or is it just me? I think I need a kick in the hiney! Anyway.....I didn't want to leave y'all hanging so I thought I'd give you a peek at my half finished pumpkin project. It really only lacks a few small details, but unfortunately it's those small details that will make it special! Try to see the potential here...kay? Oh, and pretend that I haven't put off painting my front door for a year and that it is now black. (the paint has been in the garage waiting for me all this time)
Pathetic, I tell ya.

I still need to add the spanish moss around the base of the topiaries (which I mysteriously could not find). I feel a trip to the Dollar Tree comin on! And I haven't decided yet if I want to use vinyl rub ons or be really brave and try to paint on them. Actually, brave is the wrong word. I think ridiculous might be more appropriate. Have I mentioned that I cannot draw a stick figure? Yeah...I'm thinking I should use vinyl.

First, I started by buying dowels that were ridiculously huge. Then I had my sweetie drill ginormously large holes in the pumpkins to accommodate said dowels. And then we just stacked them on the dowel. I thought I'd need some hot glue, but decided against it. This will do just fine for now.

This would be my lovely assistant with the reeeaaaally hairy arms. LOVE him for helping me with my projects!

I hope that I have better luck with my pumpkins this year. Last year, I had about $30 worth of beautiful fresh pumpkins at my door. The night before my big Halloween party a bunch of neighborhood hoodlums decided they would look better dripping their guts down my front door. Yes, they pitched my beautiful fall abundance at the front of my house in the middle of the night. Luckily, my big scary husband caught them in the act and scared the pee pee out of them. I guess all that military training comes in handy every now and then. Yup...he's good like that. So, wish me and my punkins good luck this Halloween season. I think we might need it!

I seem to be suffering the same affliction lately...I can't seem to finish anything I've started.
I can see your pumpkins, in my minds eye, and they look terrific! No go forth and finish them... ;p

Your topiaries are looking good. I can't wait to see how you finish them.

Those kids are lucky that you and your husband didn't press charges against them. Grrrr!

There are a lot of not started and not finished projects around my house, too.

Okay, Amanda, I envisioned it and it looks beautiful! : ) I was thinking of picking up two white pumpkins at Michaels and doing the two numbers that make up my address on them in vinyl. I love your topiary of them though.

What a great start! I'm impressed that your husband helps you with your projects! My husband enjoys rolling his eyes, hemming and hawing.

I can just see it - beautiful!

Have you considered using "faux" pumpkins?

I really like your white topiary pumpkins, even if the final touches arn't there yet. While I was reading your post, I kept thinking about how all my pumpkins were stolen last year and hoping that no one messes up yours. Of course, having them smashed all over is considerably worse than being stolen. I hope people leave those pretty things alone! I think if you get some vinyl on them real quick, no one else would really want your personalized pumpkins, right?

I'm liking the project already so I imagine it will be doubly awesome when it is done! And your door is totally beautiful black I don't know what you're talking about...*coughcoughwink*

I can't believe that happened to your pumpkins last year - that makes me so mad! But I am a bit tickled that they got the fear put in them. ;)

I did this a few years back with real pumpkins and gorilla glue. Yeah gorilla glue. My father in law thought I was crazy but it worked. I keep telling myself to buy the fake punkins so I can recreate it because they look so cute. I strung lights and vines around mine.
Look awesome and thanx for reminding me abt this project! I think HobLob has theirs on sale this week.

This is clever--and don't feel bad about not completing projects--I feel the more I blog and check out people's ideas, the more ideas I start and the longer my list grows!! Never ending :)

Our husbands sound alike. Heh Heh. Hairy arms and scary military training to boot. Mine was in his underpants when he made our neighborhood hoodlums "pee pee" themselves.
