I've had this one on my to-do list for quite a while, and finally got around to re-creating it this weekend. I am absolutely head over heels in love with the original Ballard version. The palette they used is so soothing, plus these are my signature colors. But I tend to use aqua and brown a bit too much. In an effort to do something out of my comfort zone, I decided to take my master bedroom redo in a completely different color direction.
And by completely different, I mean......very similar. I know, I got real crazy with the color change here!
The main colors in the room are black and white, but I needed a little splash of color. So I brought in this lovely blue and grey palette. Thank you Amy Butler for making your gorgeous fabric patterns available in scrapbook paper!
I used some unfinished wood plaques from the craft store I had lying around. I painted the edges black and used spray adhesive to put the scrapbook paper directly onto the plaque. I added sawtooth hangers to the back of each one and got busy hanging my new wall art. Lucky for me, I happened to have all of the supplies on hand, so this little project was free! Gotta love that.
I am very happy with how this turned out. I'm also very happy that it cost me $0 and it was super easy. Now that I look at it a bit closer, I think I might add another row of three to the top. What do you think? Should I leave it as is or make it bigger?
Tomorrow I'll show you what I'm doing above the closet doors on either side of this wall. Slowly but surely, and one wall at a time, I am getting this room finished!

I have been WANTING to do this too. I kept seeing versions of it all around blogland. I was going to do it using the art canvas squares. I was actually at Joann's today looking at the canvasses but decided not to spend the money. Maybe next time. I love yours! They look FAB! I can't tell if you should do another row or not. I need a further away pic. But as I see them now, they look perfect!
Those turned out great! I like 'em just as they are, but if you want to add another row I don't think it'll hurt.

It makes total sense and you certainly have an eye for detail and a way to make things work. Nice job! I love this idea. I may copy it and use it in my girls playroom. I have some beautiful scrapbook paper that has always felt too pretty to even cut up and put in a book.
$0...you can't beat that! I like how yours is similar, but has it's own fresh feel. :) I like the papers you chose...they look great!

Seriously, I think these look great. I actually like the black edges of yours even more than the Ballard's version! But I do think you should add another row. I like odd numbers--three rows, nine total would be more pleasing than two rows, six total. Know what I mean?

These look so pretty, Amanda! I'm gonna jump on the one more row bandwagon. It looks beautiful and I don't think it would have occurred to me if you hadn't suggested it but I do think three would look really nice. Can't wait to see what you do above the closet doors!
That looks great. I'm trying to think where I could use them. You know how it is, have to take something down to put something up.
You could do another row but probably on the bottom. On the top would be above the door frame. I guess that's okay, just my opinion.

The wall looks great and I LOVE the his/hers labels! I wanted to add a His/hers wall art in my master bath but it was a major flop. I think I'll try again!
