It's come to my attention that many people have no idea what a "happy" is. Seriously...I thought everyone knew that the word happy could be an adjective and a noun! Maybe it's a southern thing. My mother is a lover of the happies. She will find any excuse to give one at anytime to anyone, for no reason whatsover. We have dubbed her the Queen of Happies and she wears this title well. She taught me the fine art of happies and that in giving them...they make you feel, well......happy!
Since I am completely and utterly enamored with these rosettes, I thought I'd make some more to give my mom and sisters for Mother's Day. You know...Mother's Day happies. I sat down the other night and cranked out a bunch of new ones and once again, just couldn't stop. I think I might need an intervention. I carried them around my little 50 cent yard sale tray I spray painted balck and let everyone choose their favorite.
My niece chose this necklace, but I couldn't get her to model it for me. I love how this one turned out...I hope you love it too Becca!
The cluster pins were very popular. I got some special requests to make more in different colors.
I made some really tightly coiled and others loosely twisted and wrapped. I prefer the loosey goosey fluffy version, but some people really liked the tight coils better. It's fun to make lots of different varieties and see what happens. I love that there aren't really any hard and fast rules when it comes to these babies. You can just be totally creative and have fun with it!

My sweet mom got first pick and she chose this hot pink number. I love how it pops off the black.
I forgot to give one very useful tip in my tutorial last week. Whe applying the pin to the back...do not use hot glue. Use an epoxy of some sort, like E-6000. It will make that bond permanent and the pin will never pop off. Hot glue does a great job when wrapping your rosette. I just wouldn't recommend it for the pin. I think eventutally it would come off.

And don't forget, there is another giveaway going on today at Tatertots and Jello to celebrate the launch of our new site.......

I love them! I want that necklace. And one for my hair!
I grew up in Mississippi, and the women in my family would bring each other a "Happy" at Christmas time. I later found out that in South Carolina, a surcee is the same thing as a happy. Just some trivia. :)
I didn't know what a happy was either....and I am in the south...maybe I live under a rock! ;) Yours are gorgeous!!
They are so pretty! I grew up in the south and know all about happies. :-)
I hadn't heard of happies either. I am from the north though. Cute idea. I might be stealing it. Love how your happies turned out.
I love this idea, Amanda, for dressing up a plain cardigan! I wear them all year round {sometimes the A/C is a little too cold at the day job}.
Those are fab, Amanda! I have heard "happy" before. My mom always says "sussy" for "surprise." :)
I'm ashamed to say this is the first time I've heard of happies :(
I love 'EM! I think I'm gonna start to give more happies!
However, my little one does call anything to do with a birthday or cupcake a happy!
I love these! So cute!
I love "happies"...and I adore your blog...I'm so envious of how creative you are...great ideas and I'm so glad you share them with those of us who are creatively challenged.
What a great idea! I am sure everyone loved them!
I grew up in Louisiana and my mom and her friends were always sending little happies to each other. She makes sure the girls in her office get one once a month. Love the rosettes!
I love the necklace you made with the pearls! I'm going to try that next. I took my necklaces to show a crafty friend today. She didn't want to learn to make them, she just wanted to buy mine!
I have completely caught the "rosette" fever! I made some for my daughter's special second birthday shoes, her sun hat, and one to spice up the dress that I plan to wear (or maybe make a necklace instead). Thanks so much for sharing. I love them!
I love these, and the necklace is such a great idea! I'm going to have to add these to my list of future projects! :) ~Sam
I love your "happies" :)
how about making soem hair clips with the rosettes and putting them in your shop? I would like to buy some because I am too lazy to make any. they are really cute!
I have never heard happy used as a noun. If it it southern, it's not Georgia! Your flowers are nice and I love the cluster pins.
You made me giggle! I love Happies! Who doesn't It is a Southern thing. I moved to Wisconsin 5 years ago and the first time I talked about a happy they thought I was a kook! I am teaching them :) They also don't know about pimento cheese!!! Can you imagine???
